VIDAGO PALACE
GOLF
The Vidago Palace golf course is truly unique. Redesigned by Cameron &
Powell from the original Mackenzie Ross course built in 1936. The current course has been completely rebuilt according to USGA specifications for greens and tees, and has been transformed into a Par 72 course, enabling international championships, while maintaining the identity of the original design and faithfully reflecting the beauty and remarkable qualities for the practice of this sport.
History & Challenge
The Vidago Palace golf course will delight and challenge the most experienced of players. There are great contrasts that have in common a unique respect for the natural surroundings. A hallmark of this course are the walls supporting all the tees, built of local stone and where the centuries-old trees have been almost entirely preserved. The first four holes played within the centenary park anticipate the next 11, built from scratch in the Oura Valley. The last 3 are played on the top of the centenary park with the magnificent and breath-taking view of hills and villages. Every hole is a challenge and each of the last 9 is completely different from the previous one, so that golfers can test and enjoy the whole range of strokes.

The recently enlarged course includes a 340m driving range, ideal for beginners and for those who need to practice their swing. There is also a chipping area and two putting greens. Buggies, trolleys, electric trolleys and club hire are available at the Club House.
Golf Academy has a modern practice course. The Club House, also reborn as a new project by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, is the result of the restoration of an old stone building dating from 1886, where you will find a restaurant, a bar and a shop.
